Well the week finally ended...we ended it this morning about 0445 with a fire! Not as big one - just a little electrical fire in the maintenance building. Engine 5 was dispatched and took care of it, but the rest of us were on standby and wide awake at that point. What a week!
When I got off at noon today I headed to the base pool for some sun. I have to say I have a nice little tan going on. Hard not to when I am in Africa. I am using sunblock for sure! But still able to get some color...which is nice. You all know how pasty white I am! And I am hoping to have a good tan for my upcoming journey in August.
Here are the photos from the aftermath of the rain. There is lots of mud damage all over the base. Many places we can't walk right now - small little landslides. Crazy. Hoping that is the end of our rainy season! HA HA BTW - they don't have a rainy season here. I know this mess doesn't compare to what is happening back home with the flooding from the Mississippi River...but this is our own little hell.
I am sitting at 11 Degrees North now getting ready to have the first of my requisite 3 beers. Cannot wait...but wanted to upload these photos first.
