7 Sep 2010 - Survived turning 40

So...indeed! I survived the BIG 4-0 Party/Bash this past Sat., 9/4/2010. Thanks so much to everyone who came out to help me, Trish and Connie celebrate! It really was a fantastic time. And it was so amazing to have so many people around that I love and care for so much. It gives me goosebumps to think about how much support there was in that one house...and of course all around me as I prepare to head out.

Memorable moments from the party...gosh, what's not to remember? Thank You Blake Davis, aka, Roomie, for taking the most amazing photos! I am so happy to have these to take with me to browse anytime I am feeling lonely or wondering what the HELL I was thinking heading off to Africa. Loved that some people came that I was not expecting, and bummed at missing some of those I had hoped would be there. So glad that people enjoyed the Slot Machine, Pinball Machine, Beer Pong, Corn Hole, and Rock Band (even tho I am thinking most people I heard doing this could have used some back-up...tee hee). And of course, what about everyone who contributed to the 40 different beverages that Trish and I consumed throughout the evening? There were some yummy ones...and, uh, yuck, some gross ones too. And in true Trish and Kathi tradition, we ended the evening with a showing of "A Nightmare on Elm Street"...which is still a classic.

All in all, wouldn't trade any of it! What a great time. And the weekend closed out with some great stuff too - dinner in Georgetown at Hook (with Connie, Natalie, and Trish), then a personal tour of DC by Richard (all 27 hours a day of it too!!), and then a Monday trip to the Marine Corps Museum at Quantico - for our Dads. Ooh Rah! Just an all around great way to ring in a new decade!

So now I sit here trying to figure out how I am really going to be ready to leave for Africa...been focusing so much on the Birthday, kind of neglected the planning for departure. So...with the days shrinking with everyday that passes...UGH! But rest assured...I will divide and conquer - I am a Marine's daughter, after all.

Anyway - just wanted to check in...check out the photos from the party on Facebook if you have a chance. Counting my blessings today as I think about all you peeps that I can count on any day for the love and support I need to keep me going!  Love you all!
